Following the outstanding success of SpeedFest 2016 and its record number of visitors, we are pleased to announce that SpeedFest will be returning to the Grampian Transport Museum on Sunday July 2nd 2017.
The museum has secured the visit of Jimmy Mcrae who won the British Rally Championships five times and whose son, Colin McRae MBE, was the youngest ever winner of the World Rally Championship Drivers' title. At this unique and momentous event, Jimmy will be reunited with the Ford Focus rally car that his son raced at the height of his career.
The quality of the largely invited entry is amazing and the main act is to be Kevin Carmichael whose championship winning stunts combining motorcycles and cars are world famous. Keeping Kevin Company will be the Aberdeen Hardstyle Drift Team, keen exponents of this fastest growing branch of motorsport.
All the great marques will be in evidence, British Aston Martins and Jaguars, Italian Lamborghinis and Ferraris and German Audis and BMWs being to the fore.
The theme this year is rally sport and ancient and modern rally cars will be put through their paces on the museum’s road circuit.
The day will begin with early bird passenger rides where you, providing you're over 12 years old, can enjoy an exhilarating ride in a performance car around our race track, unique in North East Scotland.
Pursuits see cars competing for the upper hand during the event. Each car will begin at opposite ends of the track and when it becomes clear that one car is making ground then they're declared to be the winner!
On-site catering is to be provided so don't worry about a packed lunch! Toilets are located at several places around the site.
Visit the museum with a reduced entry ticket and have a great day out!
