For 2019 the Museum is planning an exceptional line up of activities to help make the October school holidays memorable. These are both inside the Museum and out in the events arena so whatever the weather does there is plenty for visitors to see and do.
On Sunday 6th October steam engines are in focus as we offer rides aboard steam cars, lorries and traction engines. Full Steam Ahead will run from 1 pm to 3 pm and is a chance to get up close to some fascinating vehicles from the steam era.
Wednesday 16th October's Land Rover Rides are a chance to experience first hand the traction offered by a range of 4 x 4 vehicles, ancient and modern, on a demanding course on the museum site. Again rides are offered from 1 pm to 3 pm.
Our Halloween Special is on Friday 25th October and for this the museum is transformed into a supernatural world with activities for young children throughout the main building. Again all scary activity is from 1 to 3 pm!
Every day throughout the October school holidays there will be a range of entertaining quizzes and competitions, some with great prizes, for all age groups. These are primarily for fun but also have serious educational benefits as they encourage a closer look at the Museum’s topical exhibitions.
The Junior Driving School will be operating throughout giving 4 to 10-year-olds a chance to drive a wee electric car and learn the basic rules of the road. A chance to get that first driving licence in a fun and safe facility. The school operates as a separate facility and lessons are only £4 per child!
Our Traveller’s Rest Tea Room provides essential refreshments every day offering exceptional quality and value for a light lunch and the Museum shop is ideal for small gifts and some great book titles.
