Sunday saw the return of the popular annual ‘AllFord at Alford event to Grampian Transport Museum. There was a record entry of cars and mostly sunny weather, with many declaring it “The best yet!”
An event which is ‘A Celebration of Ford through the Ages’ fully lived up to its name with every kind of Ford and Ford powered car on display from the original Model ‘T’ to the very latest hybrid and self-parking cars from Ford. With lots of sunshine and just the very lightest sprinkle of a shower, over 1500 visitors of all ages enjoyed an excellent afternoon. Ford Motor Company was present with their events team providing displays, simulators and competitions to enjoy. Ford dealership Lawrence of Kemnay was the main event sponsor and dealer principal Gavin Chalmers was delighted with the turnout “There’s been such a lot of effort put into this event by the whole team that it is really rewarding to have such an excellent day. The feedback we have had has been really good and the families are clearly enjoying themselves as there is something here for everyone today”
There were a number of competitions throughout the day, from the traditional ‘Show and Shine’ for the owners, to a quiz between the Mustang and Capri owners, and a ‘sound off’ for music systems.
Neil Thomson is Assistant Curator and Events Coordinator for the museum “Today has been amazing” he said ”Entrants started arriving a full hour early in their eagerness to be here and the day just got busier and better. It had been a lot of hard work by the museum’s wonderful team of volunteers but the result makes it so worthwhile. There were a lot of smiling faces at the end of what was a very good day.”
