Albion was one of the three principal motor car manufacturers in Scotland, along with Argyll and Arrol Johnston. Formed in 1899, It quickly branched out into goods vehicle production in the early 1900s. It became one of the principal truck and bus manufacturers in the UK , with large military orders during the First and Second World Wars and worldwide sales.
It was absorbed into the Leyland group in 1950 but continued to manufacture commercial vehicles under the Albion name until 1972, when the Leyland name took over. Its high spot was in the 1950s when the Claymore was introduced as a medium-sized vehicle in a variety of wheelbases with a flatbed, van or rolling chassis options and was one of the most successful models in the range.
This particular vehicle, UAV 908, a CL 60 model was bought by Gordons of Alford in 1960 for use as a traveling shop.
