The 2025 season at Alford based Grampian Transport Museum is set to be one of its busiest yet thanks to its exciting new exhibition ‘…and on that Bombshell’ featuring a collection of vehicles from the Top Gear television shows. Museum Manager Ross McKirdy is delighted with the response since opening on Friday 28th March “We have had a very busy first few days with a lot of excellent feedback about our whole new exhibition. Of course, the Top Gear vehicles are the centre of attention, but we have also changed around a lot of the museum layout to accommodate them and we’re getting some lovely comments about the whole experience, which is very pleasing.

“GTM is a self-funding charity with a small team of hard-working staff supported by a wonderful team of volunteers, without whom we simply would not be able to achieve everything we do. With a busy season ahead, we would be pleased to hear from anybody who would like to join our volunteers and who is able to offer us a few hours each week or at some of our events in return for a very rewarding time amongst good company. We are holding our annual Volunteer Morning on Saturday 5th April at 11am, where interested people can come along and meet our existing volunteers and learn more about the opportunities available. These range from indoor and outdoor maintenance, help in the tearoom and with visitor services, educational help with school visits and help with our arena events throughout the season. An important message is that you do not need to be a transport enthusiast to be one of our team. Many are, of course, but many just enjoy working with people and helping where they can with their own skills.”
