Sunday 18th August 2024 is set to be one of the most memorable days of the year at the award-winning Grampian Transport Museum in the pleasant Aberdeenshire village of Alford, as a record entry of over 260 Fords and Ford-engined vehicles gather for a ‘Celebration of Ford through the ages’ at the annual AllFord at Alford event. This year is the 60th anniversary of the legendary Ford Mustang and there will be some superb examples of the car on display, including replicas of perhaps the most famous Mustang of them all, driven at high speed by Steve McQueen down the streets of San Francisco in the 1968 film ‘Bullitt’.
The oldest car there will be a 111year old Ford Model T, the car that launched the age of mass production. Also, to be seen for the very first time anywhere in Scotland, will be Ford’s recently launched new all-electric Capri – a major Coup for the event and brought here by event supporters TrustFord, who recently opened their new £5m Ford Dealership in Aberdeen.
Museum manager Ross McKirdy is very excited about the event “Sunday promises to be our best AllFord yet with the record entry, the new Capri from Ford and more happening than ever. We are delighted that TrustFord are supporting AllFord once again and we could not wish for a better partner. As well as a full range of exciting new Fords they are also bringing number of cars from the Ford Heritage Collection which have never previously been seen in Scotland.
“Another first for AllFord 2024 will be the ‘Family Zone’ with kiddies play, competitions, a variety of stalls including demonstrations from St John on how to use a defibrillator and CPR to save lives, alongside craft and trade stands. There is even a fun dog show for all our canine visitors because GTM is a very dog-friendly museum! Every visitor to AllFord on Sunday will also have the opportunity to enjoy a discounted visit round the museum itself to complete a great day out for all the family.”
AllFord at Alford 2024 opens to the public at 11am on Sunday 18th August
