Museum Autumn Autojumble attracts the crowds

Sunday the 22nd dawned grey and overcast but it was dry – perfect for an Autojumble. The sellers and buyers at Alford based Grampian Transport Museum thought the same and both turned out in numbers.

By the time the gates officially opened at 9am there were over 90 stalls offering everything from car and motorcycle parts to new outdoor clothing at bargain prices. There were hard to find parts and manuals for vehicle of all ages, garage tools, gardening equipment, household curiosities, models, motorcycles and even candy for the children.

With lots of bargains to be had both on-site car parks were full and there was lots of rummaging and bargaining going on…

Museum trustee Jim Young was delighted to see the arena bustling with activity “The GTM Autojumble is recognised as one of the longest established in Scotland and it is great to see so many traders here from a wide geographical area. They attract the regular and new autojumblers all looking for hard-to-find parts and bargains. There were a lot of families here on Sunday and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves finding things they didn’t know they needed!

“The museum is very lucky to have the staff and volunteers willing turn up at an early hour to open the site and help everyone to settle in. Without them the Autojumble wouldn’t happen and we would like to say a big ‘Thank you’ to them all.

“This is our last major arena event of the year but for those who might have missed it, don’t worry as we will be opening the 2025 season with the Spring Autojumble in April. In the meantime look out for Daleks and spooky Halloween happenings in October and Santa will be visiting Alford again soon.”

Grampian Transport Museum, a self-funded charity, is open 7 days/week until the end of October.
