Getting here by car

Alford is signposted. Take the A944 (25 miles)

From Aberdeen Airport

Follow the exit road out from the airport along Argyll Road to the roundabout. Take the second exit onto the A96 towards Inverurie and follow signs for Kintore. Go straight ahead at the roundabout by Sandy Thain car sales and take the first left for Kemnay (B994). Continue through Kemnay and follow signs for Alford. (22 miles)

From Banchory
Take the A980 to Alford (18 miles)

From the North (Huntly)
Leaving the A96, take the A97, joining the A944 to Alford (20 miles)
You can also follow the Brown Sign indicated Highland Tourist Route to Alford.

Getting here by public transport

Stagecoach Bluebird now operate regular daily services to Alford, further details of routes and timetables can be found by clicking here 


Access to the museum is on the ground level and the exhibition is accessible to wheelchair users. The new lift to the mezzanine floor fitted in early 2019 has made the museum 100% accessible. The Collections Centre is fully wheelchair accessible.


Museum parking is extensive and free with several dedicated disabled spots. The car park also has several large spaces suitable for bus and coach parking.


The doors within the museum are fully accessible to wheelchairs. There is also a wheelchair available at reception for visitor use.


There are male, female and accessible toilets within the museum. There is also a baby changing facility available.
